SMP Acquisitions has announced that it will adopt a new energy efficiency policy, which will be fully introduced by the second quarter of 2012.

It is believed that the move will lead to decreased operating costs and an improved business reputation, as the work will enable the business to amend inefficiencies and grow in a sustainable way.

Scott Pattrick, managing director of SMP Acquisitions, said: "Understanding our energy usage was the first step. Now that we know which processes and equipment use the most energy we can put practices in place to reduce the amount of energy used."

Mr Pattrick explained that customers have responded well to the initiative, with the firm gaining more recognition in the sales and marketing industry.

Elsewhere, Peterborough Today has reported that Morris Holmes has been put forward for a national award, after it built an environmentally-friendly building in the town.

It was nominated in the Cut the Carbon category of the 2012 Building Awards.
