A chimney and its connected flue accessories smashed in the middle of a Stirling street after it collapsed from a roof last week.

The structure fell onto Baker Street in the middle of the city's centre at around 12:30GMT, necessitating a visit from the Central Scotland Fire and Rescue Service, reports the Stirling Observer.

For a short time, the street was shut off from the public to allow for the debris to be cleared up.

No injuries were reported during the incident, though the fire service dutifully ensured that the road was safe. It is believed that the chimney's collapse was a result of the strong winds seen in the area.

The event is sure to prompt many residents to check that their chimneys and home appliances are in a stable condition, echoing advice from Build It editor Anna-Marie DeSouza.

Ms DeSouza has told people that home maintenance is an ongoing project, so frequent checks should be undertaken.
