DIY enables people to be more creative within their own homes.

This is the opinion of Paul Minderides, a professional tradesman from Wickes, who believes that home improvement work gives residents a chance to make their surroundings more artistic, as well as boosting general functionality.

Mr Minderides explained: "If we take painting as an example, if you really cover up well – so cover your carpets, and move your furniture from the room, then you can have a lot more fun painting."

He underlined that it is great that people are attempting to be creative and putting a twist on normal DIY jobs.

While DIY work can offer many benefits, it is vital that residents carry out work effectively, especially as a study from AA has found that there is only a 35 per cent chance that men between 18 and 24 can perform any specific repair task in their property.
