The costs of installing eco-lighting among flue accessories will be balanced by energy savings, a specialist has asserted.

Being regarded as a green homeowner is strong justification for the interior design of a home to be overhauled, as the original costs of energy efficient light fittings can be regained by less expensive energy bills, according to Light IQ.

Victoria Lee, client relationship manager at Light IQ, suggested that there are many eco-friendly alternatives to incandescent lighting.

Ms Lee explained: "There are a plethora of replacement lamps on the market for decorative fittings. The problems occur when considering more architectural recessed fittings such as the standard downlight."

Earlier this month, the Light IQ spokeswoman said that there is a widespread misunderstanding of LEDs and compact fluorescent lighting in Britain.

Many residents are reluctant to move away from traditional lighting systems, but they must acknowledge the advantages of energy efficient lighting in order to change their attitude.
