The upcoming Green Deal initiative will be promoted as part of the buying and selling process in the property industry, a specialist has asserted.

It is also expected that the Department of Energy and Climate Change (Decc) will allow the market to drive the promotion of the project, according to a spokesperson from the Property and Energy Professionals Association.

Speaking at the GreenbuildExpo in Manchester, Gavin Dunn from the group noted: "Their earlier engagement with some of the larger retail organisations suggests an assumption that this will come down to sales marketing, so the larger retailers will drive the public awareness."

However, Mr Dunn explained that he is unaware of any projects from the Decc with regard to a potential information campaign.

Earlier this month, the Green Alliance stated that the government has invested both time and money in developing schemes such as the Green Deal, but warned that their success will be reliant on public engagement.
