Radiator size needs to be taken into account when homeowners fit new heating systems into their properties, one specialist has advised.

Adam Taylor, marketing manager at Artex, noted that ensuring that residents have a radiator of adequate size is the most important aspect when upgrading their heating.

"I've got rooms where we've put the wrong sized BTU (British Thermal Unit) in it, and you just don't get the most effective heating system," Mr Taylor commented.

He went on to say that homeowners should invest in good quality tools for DIY if they are serious about carrying out successful home improvement work, as better equipment will make the tasks much simpler.

Paul Minderides, a professional tradesman from Wickes, recently commented on DIY, explaining that every person who wishes to carry out property improvements should be able to fit radiators in homes.

He emphasised that homeowners do not need to drain the appliance's system in order to complete the task.
