A primary school close to Chichester has been handed £29,980 from EDF Energy in order to fund a renewable energy project.

The money is sourced from the EDF Energy Green Fund and will assist in paying for a biomass wood pellet boiler scheme at Eastergate Primary School, according to Build.co.uk.

Speaking to the website, Judith Holland, headteacher at Eastergate Primary School, said: "We're delighted that the EDF Energy Green Fund is able to help make this exciting project a reality. The £29,989 will go a huge way to helping us create this low carbon solution."

Ms Holland went on to say that the school actively promotes energy-efficient behaviour throughout its workforce.

Energy efficiency is also being focused on by a number of community centres in the Mansfield area, with Chad.co.uk reporting that Newark and Sherwood Homes is managing a scheme that aims to cut 25 per cent off the buildings' monthly costs.
