Farrow and Birchley - HETAS Cleaner Choice Certified Stoves from the Oakleaf Colleciton

We are excited to share the latest additions to the Oakleaf Stoves Collection: the Farrow and the Birchley. What sets these newcomers apart is their certification as members of the HETAS Cleaner Choice scheme. This achievement underscores our commitment to providing consumers with cleaner burning appliances that contribute to responsible fuel use and lower carbon options.

Understanding the HETAS Cleaner Choice Scheme

To achieve certification under the HETAS Cleaner Choice scheme, stoves must meet stringent criteria set by HETAS. Not only do they have to adhere to current requirements for exemption within current Smoke Control Areas and secure a listing on the DEFRA website, but they must also demonstrate at least a 50% improvement on current particulate limits for exemption. This improvement is measured using a robust test methodology recognised within the UK.

Aiming for Responsible Fuel Use

In a world where misconceptions about wood burning are flourishing, it is crucial to provide clear and transparent information. With the Farrow and the Birchley, we aim to show that appliances can burn fuels responsibly and operate in a way that significantly reduces smoke (particulate) emissions. This initiative not only aligns with our commitment to sustainability, but also serves as a beacon of guidance for consumers seeking cleaner burning options.

The Importance of Clear Messaging

In an era where media messages can be confusing and misleading, we believe it is our responsibility to educate consumers. By promoting cleaner burning appliances, we hope to assist those contacting us and reading our messages in making informed decisions. We understand the concerns surrounding wood burning, particularly the emission of harmful particulate matter, and we want to address these concerns head-on.

Protecting the Future of Wood Burning

One of the primary criticisms of wood burning is its association with harmful particulate emissions. Our initiative goes beyond meeting basic requirements; it provides clear guidance and choice for consumers who want reliable, responsible burning appliances. By choosing the Farrow and the Birchley, buyers are investing in the future of wood burning, a lower carbon option and a sustainable fuel source.

In a world filled with complex information, we want to simplify the process for consumers—making it easy to understand the importance of cleaner burning appliances. Together, let's protect the future of wood burning and choose appliances that prioritise both performance and environmental responsibility.
