Wood stove pipes 'should be reviewed annually'

Chimney repair professionals should make domestic customers aware that it is a good idea to have their chimney and stove inspected annually to make sure everything is in working order.

According to a post on the Financebis blog, those with wood stoves need either an insulated or masonry chimney to use it and fitting it can be quite a tricky job.

The source stated that tradesmen should inspect the wood stove pipes and other areas of the structure, as wear and tear can make them dangerous to operate.

"Partitions are subjected to high temperatures [so they] should be checked regularly for corrosion," the blog said.

The site went on to add that if the levels of corrosion are so high then they need to be replaced as soon as possible.

A recent survey of estate agents by Precision Reach International, on behalf of Specflue, found that 67 per cent of people believe that a wood-burning stove is a positive inclusion in a house, thisismoney.co.uk recently reported.
