The additional costs associated with developing greener new-build properties are decreasing due to market forces, an expert has claimed.
This reduction in expenses is a result of several factors, such as rising competition between low carbon technology manufacturers and suppliers, according to a spokesman from Sustain Worldwide.
Gordon Miller, co-founder and sustainability and communications director at the group, said: "Housebuilders' increasing knowledge of how to build low carbon homes delivers cost savings and reduces expensive research and development overheads."
Mr Miller commented on falling labour costs in the market, saying that the cost of labour will drop as the shortage of skills necessary to deliver low carbon buildings improves.
Good news was also reported in the home improvement market, as Homebuilding & Renovating believes that specialists in the sector are now recovering from the recession, which may lead to more people completing work on their flue accessories.
This is despite the short-term outlook for the industry remaining bleak, the group added.
