One alternative when using flue liners for woodburners is to choose a pellet burning stove, but what are the advantages of this option?

According to the Ask the Chimney Sweep blog, pellet stoves save space in landfulls by recycling sawdust, agricultural waste and wood chips into efficient lumps that produce less smoke and creosote.

Another advantage is the ability to buy the pellets in bags, which may appeal to those who do not have the storage space for logs.

"A pellet stove has a hopper that operates like a screw permitting so many pellets to hit the flames per hour," the blog went on to say.

"The faster the pellets hit the flame the greater the heat output for the appliance."

In an earlier post, the Ask the Chimney Sweep blog said it is crucial to have chimneys swept regularly to reduce the risk of fire, as well as installing a chimney cowl top stop birds getting inside.
