Residents in the Scottish Borders have one last chance to acquire funding for loft and cavity wall insulation.

Households are eligible for the measures as part of the Scottish Borders Council's free insulation offer. Loft insulation can bring maximum savings of £175 a year, while cavity wall insulation can save up to £135.

Speaking to the Southern Reporter, Morag Scott from Peebles, who is one of the many to benefit from the offer, said: "I’ve always liked to keep cosy and this year I’ve been able to leave the heating turned down to the lowest setting – the heat doesn’t escape anymore."

Ms Scott underlined that, thanks to the measures, she no longer has to make a choice between heating or eating.

Elsewhere, Dales Housing and Frank Haslam Milan (FHM) have celebrated the success of their partnership, which has helped 400 homes in Derbyshire improve their heating.

As part of the work, properties have benefitted from new combi boilers.
