An inquiry has been started amid complaints over the flue accessories of a regeneration project in Colne.

Through the project, a number of homes in the Churchfields region were refurbished, though issues with loose pointing, window draughts and unacceptable flue covers have now been cited by residents, reports the Burnley Citizen.

Other defects found by homeowners include faulty guttering and damp penetration.

However, issues have arisen because the two firms that completed the construction work Connaught Baldwin and ROK Group have ceased trading.

Housing regeneration manager Julie Palmer said: "As neither of the contracting companies who carried out the work is in business, we cannot approach them to rectify any outstanding issues, as we normally would."

While Colne residents have suffered problems with their homes, the Kaimhill Primary School in Aberdeen has recently launched with brand new flue accessories that focus on saving energy.
