Leeds-based air conditioning engineers now have the opportunity to improve their understanding of flue accessories installation, following the launch of a new course.

Airedale International Air Conditioning has invested £500,000 in a new training centre, which will provide advanced skills to engineers installing air conditioning and control systems.

The company is keen to provide a platform for replacing its ageing skilled workforce, ensuring that new staff are capable of servicing advanced air conditioning systems and related flue accessories.

Airedale HR director Steve Joyce explained that it is crucial the UK pool of engineering skills is secured for the future of the sector.

"A substantial proportion of our 370-strong skilled workforce is aged 55 or older and it is vital we have a strategy in place for replacing those skills," he added.

Courses at the new facility will start running from March and cover both basic and advanced knowledge and practical courses designed to improve repair and maintenance capabilities.
