Four firms have been nominated to be Birmingham City Council's delivery partner ahead of its Green Deal roll-out.
Three of the companies are energy specialists and are working alongside contractors, while the final organisation is a contractor, reports 24Dash.
They are all aiming to be involved in the Birmingham Energy Savers (BES) programme, which gives households the benefit from energy-efficient renovations.
As part of BES, homeowners will be able to loan cash to pay upfront for such work, with the money being paid back through energy bill savings.
Dave Allport, programme manager for the Birmingham Energy Savers (BES), has been reported by the news provider as saying: "We've invited four companies to submit detailed schemes and we will be working with them over the next few months so we’re ready to go by autumn 2012."
His comments come after the government confirmed that it will fund a £10 million competition entitled Invest in Innovative Refurb, which will show how technologies can be used to provide energy savings.
