Four Magherafelt groups have been provided with grants that amount to £21,489, allowing them to conduct energy saving improvements.
The money is supplied by the Big Lottery Fund, with Loup Womens Group, TABBDA Company Limited, Upperlands Community Development Ltd and Woods Parish Church set to benefit from the funding, reports the Mid-Ulster Mail.
Loup Womens Group will use their £4,700 grant to fit new PVC windows and draught proofing in their community venue, while a number of energy efficient white goods will also be bought with the money.
As well as this, the organisation will conduct an energy audit, enabling them to discover where they are wasting energy and identify improvements.
In recent weeks, two council tenants from South Tyneside were recognised for their attempts to reduce fuel poverty in the region.
Sharon Smith and Sarah Collins from South Shields were named as two of the UK's Heat Heroes in an awards scheme operated by National Energy Action and ScottishPower.
