British chancellor George Osborne has revealed that Scotland will receive an extra £103 million to fund renewable energy projects.
People looking for flue liners for gas fires were told the news following a press conference with Mr Osborne and chief secretary to the treasury Danny Alexander.
Under the proposals, the additional cash will come from the Fossil Fuel Levy, which is paid by all firms supplying non-renewable energy sources, including gas.
Previous disagreements between the UK government and Scottish government have arisen over the Fossil Fuel Levy, due to the high number of rigs located in Scottish waters.
The funding will go towards wave and tidal projects, among others, with any surplus money going to the UK's Green Investment Bank.
Commenting on the announcement, Mr Alexander said: "The UK government is strongly committed to supporting the growth of this sector in Scotland in the long term."
The development has been applauded by environmental organisations, such as Friends of the Earth Scotland.
