There is a lack of information for Britons about switching to green energy suppliers, an expert has claimed.

This is a problem that should be particularly rectified, as people are now wanting to invest in generators of clean, green electricity and paying attention to where their power is coming from, RenewableUK has highlighted.

Rob Norris, press officer at the group, said: "What we're seeing at the moment is that people are finding it quite difficult to get the information about that [green energy]. It is worth going into, because as a consumer you can save a great deal of money if you change providers."

Mr Norris also remarked that many people are now willing to pay an extra premium to ensure that their electricity is derived from a green source.

A Gemserv survey has found that 61 per cent of homeowners would explore the option of installing technologies to generate their own energy.
