Flue accessories may have been the cause of a recent chip shop fire in the suburbs of Leeds, West Yorkshire.

Fire fighters were called to Woodside Fisheries on Low Lane in Horsforth earlier this week (September 8th).

The fire is believed to have started in the cooking range of flue, reports the Yorkshire Evening Post.

This incident comes shortly after fire fighters in Wiltshire were called into action to extinguish a spate of seven chimney blazes since the start of August.

Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service has reminded people of the importance of getting chimneys swept before using house fires.

The service notes that failing to have chimneys properly cleaned can be dangerous if homeowners intend to use it.

Outlining the risk, the fire fighters drew attention to the danger of carbon monoxide poisoning and damage to the chimney breast, which can cause death by poisoning and fire respectively.
