North Lincolnshire Council has released planning guidelines to ensure that flue accessories' effect on the environment is kept to a minimum.

These guidelines have outlaid the authority's stance when planning renewable energy products, aiming to promote the development of renewable energy technology in areas that can accommodate the services.

Councillor Rob Waltham, cabinet member for adult and children's services, said: "We need to ensure that we get the balance right in terms of welcoming renewable energy developments in the right places.

"But at the same time consider the impact on local communities and ensure that we protect our natural landscape."

Mr Waltham stated that North Lincolnshire is poised to exceed its target for energy produced from renewable sources, making the county one of the few within Yorkshire and the Humber to attain the honour.

He also underlined that it is vital for landscapes and the environment to not be "surrendered".
