Boiler specialist Ravenheat has backed the campaign to decrease the VAT rate on domestic central heating boilers.
At the moment, the boilers are taxed at 20 per cent, but professionally installed heating controls, insulation and solar panels all benefit from a smaller five per cent tax rate.
Louis Pickersgill, managing director of Ravenheat, told HeatingandVentilating.net: "By reducing the VAT to five per cent, the government will undoubtedly be taking the necessary steps towards encouraging more efficient households."
The discrepancy in taxation between the aforementioned heating systems was also described as illogical and impractical by the representative, who highlighted that money is the main barrier stopping people from using efficient heating.
Homeowners who are facing monetary struggles can now improve their domestic flue accessories by applying for the Warm Front scheme.
It has been re-launched by the Department of Energy and Climate Change and will provide help to over 90,000 financially-insecure households.
