Sandwell Council has reminded people of the benefits available through its Winter Warmth Team.

The group has been assembled to assist people with their heating and flue accessories, providing help for people who are worried about fuel bills, living without central heating or interested in low cost insulation for their properties.

Councillor Simon Hackett, Sandwell Council's cabinet member for housing, said: "There are many older people and disabled people in our community who have no one to turn to and, especially in the cold weather, they can become very vulnerable."

Mr Hackett highlighted that keeping warm is key to staying healthy, adding that he is pleased about the council's efforts to assist residents during this winter.

The Winter Warmth campaign will run until March 31st.

A study from MoneySupermarket.com recently underlined the cost of winter heating for many British residents.

The research discovered that homeowners in the country will spend a collective £1.6 billion on their energy bills this year.
