A new scheme in New Zealand is allowing children to report damaged flue accessories to Santa Claus, via a new website.

The Canterbury area of the country was severely damaged after an earthquake last month but now children can report any chimney damage to www.santashelper.co.nz, according to the Herald Sun.

One in nine houses within Canterbury suffered some form of damage from the 7.1 magnitude earthquake, which has meant that firemen in the area have endured a busy month of repairs.

This news comes after a chimney was removed from a property in the Christchurch area of Canterbury last month, according to 3 news.

The website reported that the chimney weighed eight tonnes and had been removed due to worries over lingering damages that remained from the earthquake.

Stonesmason Ben West told the news channel that the chimney's removal is a "perfect result so far" and to "have the building protected is great".
