Specflue has confirmed that it will open the UK's largest Heating Equipment Testing and Approval Scheme (HETAS) training facility this month.

Those applying to the learning centre will be taught to become certified HETAS engineers, with industry personnel hoping that the programme will boost the industry's workforce, reports HeatingAndVentilating.Net.

The move will mean that more people will learn how to install and repair heating appliances, such as flue liners for woodburners and wood stove pipes.

Richard Hiblen, national sales manager for Specflue, said: "We are hoping that our training facility will open the eyes of many builders who don't have the qualification to see just how much they are putting lives as risk by agreeing to home installations."

Specflue's new learning complex is the latest measure to improve the heating industry's working standards, after Airedale Air Conditioning recently invested £500,000 in their own training centre.

The site will be based in Leeds, with advanced repair skills and knowledge set to be taught to those who apply.
