Chimney repairmen should make sure homeowners are aware that a steel flue liner is essential if they plan to fit gas fire inserts.

Bill Alamazan, from Bowden's Fireside, said in an entry on freearticlesmix.com that an insert can be fitted into any existing fireplace, however, a stainless steel flue liner is a prerequisite.

"An insert is one that can be placed in an existing enclosure for wood stoves or gas fireplaces. Using one of these [does] require a liner made from stainless steel," he stated.

While it is essential for guaranteeing the safety of the occupants of a house, the stainless steel flue liner will also make the cleaning of the system much easier for the homeowner, he went on to add.

Audrey Hoffer, writing in a special to washingtonexaminer.com, recently said that gas fires are much more efficient than their wood-burning counterparts when it comes to producing heat and that they have also become more appealing aesthetically as well.
