Chimney repairmen should make sure customers are aware that their chimney system must be inspected before they install a wood-burning stove.
The Ask the Chimney Sweep blog claims that all wood-burning stoves must be installed according to the manufacturer's instructions and be in line with building legislation.
One of the most important considerations however is ensuring there is a suitable flue liner for the woodburner in place.
If it is the correct structure, the next step is to check that it is in good working order.
"Have a chimney sweep video inspect the interior of your chimney to check for cracked flue tiles or missing mortar joints," the blog went on to add.
Should the system fail to meet the required standard, it will need to be replaced with a stainless steel flue liner.
According to the Priddy Clean Chimney Sweeps blog, chimney sweeps should inspect chimney bricks to see if they have become cracked or fractured.
