A landlord in Stoke has been ordered to complete several improvements after leaving a 90-year-old tenant without any heating from her flue accessories.

Barbra Mountford now must install heating and insulation to the house in Eaves Lane, Bucknall, after Stoke-on-Trent City Council won a tribunal, which found that the home's heating system was inappropriate, reports Igloo.co.uk.

Tony Oakman, director of adult and neighbourhood services at the council, said: "As soon as we received her complaint, we were able to act swiftly to inspect the bungalow and set the wheels in motion for improvements to be made.

"We will be monitoring the property closely to see that the landlord carries out the works that are needed."

Earlier this month, a landlord in Wycombe was fined by the Health and Safety Executive after faults were discovered on his tenants' gas installations.

Asif Azam from High Wycombe pleaded guilty to the charges at Aylesbury Crown Court.
