The closure of more than 120 Focus DIY stores will not have a substantial impact on people who are exploring home improvement plans on features such as flue accessories.

Although the retail climate is currently very difficult, the end of Focus DIY's operations is a reflection of the individual company rather than an by-product of conditions in the home improvement industry, according to a spokesman for Homebuilding & Renovating.

Jason Orme, editor at Homebuilding & Renovating, said: "I suspect very little change for consumers taking on DIY projects. There is still enough competition to keep prices competitive and good ranges in store."

Mr Orne also emphasised that there is plenty of competition within the DIY sector for those who are interested in home improvements.

On May 25th, several sources reported that over 120 Focus DIY stores are set to shut down, with Ernst and Young assigned as the company's administrator.
