Sussex firm Vent-Axia has won the air movement product of the year category in the 2012 H&V News Awards.
It collected the honour for its Lo-Carbon Tempra, which is Britain's first ever single room heat recovery unit that can be retrofitted via a 10mm diameter hole in the wall, acting as a beneficial replacement for inefficient extract fans.
Lee Nurse, marketing director at Vent-Axia, said: "Britain has the oldest housing stock in the developed World with 8.5 million properties over 60 years old therefore offering significant opportunities to improve indoor air quality and building performance while cutting carbon emissions."
Mr Nurse explained that single room heat recovery is more affordable for properties, while presenting potential for significant carbon reductions.
More innovative heating products could come to the fore in the coming years, after the energy and climate change secretary Ed Davey announced that £35 million will be spent on the Energy Entrepreneurs fund.
The initiative will encourage innovators to demonstrate new ways of using energy efficiency technology.
