Scouts from Barnton have had their roof and flue accessories refurbished after receiving a grant and bringing in extra money from fundraising efforts.
First Barnton Scouts' renovation project cost a total of £21,000, with £8,000 of the money provided by a grant from Cheshire West and Chester Council's (CWAC) fund and the rest being raised independently by the group, according to the Northwich Guardian.
Chris Capes, team manager of CWAC's rural agenda and market towns team, told the newspaper: "This project highlights the importance of the availability of grants such as this for rural communities."
Mr Capes also said that the application clearly demonstrated how the group engaged their local community to back its fundraising efforts.
Another chimney is set for repair at Weavers' Triangle in Burnley, the Burnley Express reports.
The 110ft structure needs its brickwork to be restored, with steeplejack John Warburton assigned to complete the repairs.
