A fire occurred at a pub in Salisbury last Saturday (December 12th), which began after a piece of paper was lodged in the building's flue accessories.

The blaze also led to smoke billowing down a local street, as staff at the pub treated the flames with water and utilised a fire extinguisher, according to the Salibsury Journal.

Pub landlord Ron Turner told the website: "It could have ended differently but, as it was, the only thing that happened was that the turkey dinners went cold."

Meanwhile, GetHampshire.co.uk has reported how a fire in the county caused a road closure on December 13th.

The incident happened at the Waggon and Horses pub in Hartley Wintney High Street during the afternoon, with local fire crews being forced to deploy a hose reel, chimney rods and a jet to put out the flames.

Neil Scott, the pub's long-serving landlord, told the website that the fire crews put out the blaze safely and then visited later in the day to ensure that the building was safe.
