Poole Borough Council has announced plans to install a biomass boiler among the flue accessories at a school in the area.
This measure could save the institution up to £4,000 in fuel bills each year. The plans are part of a larger scheme that will see wood pellet boilers fitted in the town in order to heat homes, though these proposals are currently stalled due to the economic climate.
If the local planning authority gives the green light to the wood pellet boiler, it could be installed later this summer.
Many experts have also advocated wood pellet stoves, as they can offer an efficient method of home heating and can be fitted against an external wall or in a chimney flue.
Recently, the Oxford Mail revealed that locals in North Oxford have been urged to help a new investment scheme that aims to cover roofs at Cherwell School with solar panels.
