E.ON has equipped its repair men with four-wheel drive Toyota Hilux Double Cab pick-ups, enabling more efficient transportation to customers who are hit by defective flue accessories this winter.
The vehicles were supplied by Toyota World in Birmingham under a fleet partnership agreement for three years, and were delivered to E.ON's engineers at Toyota's manufacturing plant in Derby, before being used throughout the UK.
John Neilson, E.ON's technician manager, said: "Being left without heating if your boiler fails this winter can be distressing and potentially life threatening for our vulnerable customers."
Mr Neilson added that it is very important for E.ON to be equipped with the right vehicles to reach rural customers, especially in hazardous weather.
Recently, Tesco launched a new boiler service, which has been developed to help people deal with their heating bills.
Shoppers at the supermarket can buy Worcester Bosch boilers as part of the service. The boilers came top of the table in a Which? customer satisfaction survey in September.
