The sale of a Victorian town centre chimney has halted amid confusion over who owns the Wrexham flue accessories.

Former Wrexham MP John Marek sold the former brewery chimney in Tuttle Street through eBay in October, after acquiring it from Marston's 20 years ago. However, Marston's now says that it cannot find any paperwork to clarify who owns the flue accessories, reports the BBC.

In a statement, the firm said: "We have looked at the situation and can't find a record of the transaction. We are investigating further and keeping in close contact with Dr Marek."

The alleged owners of the chimney, Subair UK, wish to sell plaques on the bricks of the chimney for the Help for Heroes charity.

Elsewhere, a chimney suitable for Santa Claus has been made for a six-year-old in Gloucestershire.

Young Leo Park wrote to local builder Jeremy Paxton in the hope of owning a chimney fit for Santa. Mr Paxton then agreed to his proposal and built the "perfect Father Christmas chimney".
