Rotherham-based waste treatment and biofuel farm Sterecycle has been given a £5.1 million equity from its owners, which will be used for the expansion of its flue accessories.

This investment will enable the firm to expand its waste processing capacity at the South Yorkshire plant from 100 kilotonnes per year to 175 kilotonnes per year. Funding was provided by a number of sources, including Finance Yorkshire, reports Business Green.

Tom Shields, Sterecycle chief executive, said: "We're very pleased to have two new backers on board and for the ongoing support of our existing investors.  This added capacity will take us to around break-even for the group as a whole and increase landfill diversion."

A report by Cambs Times24 has revealed that Nestle Purina will integrate a new chimney to its Wisbech plant in order to increase pet food output at the firm.

Nestle Purina hopes that the move will help to upgrade the efficiency of their operations.
