A new eco-friendly home could be developed in Saddleworth, which may include a number of energy efficient flue accessories.

The planned property is set to be built by Gavin Mather using recycled tyres that are filled with earth, straw bales and reclaimed timber, while solar panels will power the property, reports the Manchester Evening News.

As well as this, the house will almost entirely be underground, with a biomass wood burner providing heating.

Speaking to the newspaper, Mr Mather said: "When I first told my friends about the idea they laughed and started calling me Tinky Winky because of the Tellytubbies, but now they all want to get involved because they see it as an exciting project."

Burdens Energy recently commented on tradesmen's knowledge of energy performance, saying that the government should be held responsible for delivering increased levels of training to people in the industry.
