Companies in Cardiff have been invited to take part in a free seminar that hopes to teach them to improve their energy efficiency.

It will be hosted by EMSc Ltd, manufacturer of the award-winning Powerstar voltage optimisation system, and will be held at Cardiff University's Birchwood House on June 7th.

Speaking at the event will be Powerstar UK sales manager Paul Newell, who will discuss the benefits of voltage optimisation, such as its energy savings and financial returns.

Dr Alex Mardapittas, managing director at EMSc (UK) Ltd, said: "Delivered in association with a number of highly regarded experts, this seminar is aimed at showcasing voltage optimisation as a reliable and credible energy efficiency technology."

Elsewhere, specialists at Sheffield University's engineering faculty have found a new way of tackling carbon emissions.

The experts believe that excess heat from steel plants could be used to heat Sheffield and reduce its carbon emissions.

These plants would need to be located just outside the city centre and could be connected to an existing heating network, the specialists noted.
