Homeowners planning to repair their own chimneys have been warned that the hardest part of the whole task is actually fitting the chimney liner.According to an entry on the Ask the Chimney Sweep blog, many people are put off calling in professionals to install flue liners for woodburners and other stoves, as the costs can be quite large.
However, those who decide to undertake the task themselves should be aware that it is a difficult job, as liners can be large and heavy, making the whole process a dangerous one.
"You need to properly size the liner in order for the chimney to draft properly. Remember that there will be an extra inch or so around the liner due to the insulation," the blog added.
When installing flue liners, it is important to keep the number of bends down to a minimum for the best results, the Antiques Dolls blog said recently.
