The government should devote time to energy efficient technologies and schemes such as the green investment bank, it has been claimed.

Fewer people are now dissuaded from the whole ethos of carbon saving in modern society and are now more comfortable when it comes to examining their carbon footprint, the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (CIPHE) states.

However, it is important to ensure that the good reputation of sustainable technologies is preserved.

Kevin Wellman, operations director at the CIPHE, explained: "The big fear is to ensure that we [...] avoid the unscrupulous people jumping on the bandwagon talking about renewable technologies and creating mayhem or bad press for the competent and conscientious installers out there."

Mr Wellman's comments follow the Federation of Master Builders' (FMB) claim that increased levels of investment are needed for the construction industry to see health improvements.

Liquidity in the financial markets could also boost the construction sector, the FMB added.
