There are worries that plans for a £100 million housing development near Norwich could be hindered if a nearby industrial plant continues operating.

The debate has emerged because Lafarage Aggregates has only temporary permission to operate the plant and this has now expired. As a result, the company is seeking permanent planning permission for the site and its flue accessories, reports Norwich Evening News 24.

In response to this, scrap metal entrepreneur Andre Surreys has disagreed with the plans, as it believes that continued use of the site may decrease the value of future homes.

Planning consultancy Lanpro, acting on behalf of the Serruys Property Company, told the news provider: "Locating a permanent industrial use on the boundary of the regeneration area will block financial investment into this priority area and in turn cap the resultant benefits from the scheme."

An article for the Gazette Series recently revealed that anti-nuclear campaigners in Shepperdine have contested plans to develop a new power plant near their homes.
