Flue accessories at homes in Maidenhead were damaged by a chimney fire earlier this week, prompting a fire safety appeal from local emergency service crews.
A fire squad was called to a property in Sutton Close at around 19:00 GMT last night (February 24th) after homeowners saw sparks being released from their chimney, while hearing odd "roaring" sounds, according to the Maidenhead Advertiser.
Local fire fighterMiles Cooper said: "I would urge people to regularly have their chimneys swept and minimum once a year. The fires are caused by a build-up of resins which clog the chimney."
Earlier this month, Chortle.co.uk reported that a comedy club in London was forced to close after a chimney fire damaged the venue.
Flames spread throughout all three floors of the building, but all of its occupants were able to vacate the premises safely. Eight fire engines were also called to the incident.
