Metso will deliver a recovery boiler single drum conversion to the flue accessories of Stora Enso Imatra Mills.
The upper and lower drum of the recovery boiler will be replaced by a new drum and separate boiler bank elements necessary for heat recovery. After being initially built in 1987, the boiler's current capacity stands at around 1,700 metric tons of dry solids per day.
Jouni Koskinen, sales manager, Boiler Conversions, Metso, said: "The conversion will significantly extend the boiler’s lifetime and allow for a possible capacity increase in the future. In addition, the conversion will improve the boiler’s availability, secure safe operation and reduce maintenance costs."
Mr Koskinen went on to say that a shorter downtime and a more reliable solution are further advantages of the single-drum conversion.
This month, DNV and KEMA confirmed that they will form an energy company, pushing the worldwide transition towards a safe and clean energy ecosystem.
