An Oxfordshire business park has started generating solar energy, which may be seen as a key technology for flue accessories specialists in the future.

The Howbery Business Park will collect 25 per cent of its necessary energy supply from the 3,000 panels. These create up to 682 MWh each year, allowing an annual saving of roughly 350 tonnes of CO2, reports PVTech.

Derry Newman, chief executive of the panel supplier Solarcentury, said: "The solar at Howbery Business Park provides a glimpse of how this technology can contribute to our clean energy future, hinting at the serious role solar power can play in our energy mix."

The solar system is also connected to the grid and is the largest of its kind in the UK.

Beech Solar recently claimed that the industry needs to inform people about the incentives available for them to add solar power technology in their properties.
