Homeowners who make relatively inexpensive improvements to the energy performance of their flue accessories can be rewarded with large savings, one group believes.
Further education about the advantages of sustainable property improvements should be emphasised to people in order to convince them to invest, the National Home Improvement Council (NHIC) has stated.
Andrew Leech, director at the NHIC, said: "What needs to be done is when they get their new fuel bills through, they need to have it pointed out to them that they could be saving x amount of money on their fuel bill if they were fully insulated."
Mr Leach noted that homeowners who complete sustainable property improvements will see big savings over the long term.
A recent study from uSwitch.com has found that 37 per cent of Britons believe that solar panels are only for people who can afford to be green.
