The self-build market has made a notable comeback from the recession, as more people look to install their own flue accessories.
Due to the changing housing market, self-build is poised to become "the norm" and could reach similar levels to those that are being witnessed in other areas of Europe, Buildstore Financial Services believes.
Raymond Connor, chief executive of BuildStore Financial Services, said: "As well as an increase in visitors to the National Self Build and Renovation in Swindon this year, BuildStore's land-finding database, PlotSearch, saw a 20 per cent year-on-year increase in new subscribers last month."
Mr Connor further revealed that the database has roughly 8,800 self-build plots and renovation opportunities.
The Runcorn and Widnes World has reported that mum-of-four Lynn Griffiths is calling on people to volunteer and raise awareness of the hazards associated with blocked flue accessories.
Ms Griffiths' family as poisoned by carbon monoxide after a blockage in the gas fire flue of her home.
