Many companies are using improper sales tactics and delivering poor advice to people interested in boosting their flue accessories with solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, one company has asserted.
Three-quarters of businesses incorrectly predicted how much energy solar PV panels would generate, while a proportionate amount of them also underestimated the length of time it would take for the system to pay for itself, according to research conducted by Which?
As well as this, the group discovered that seven out of 12 salespeople recommended installing solar PV panels on shaded areas of the roof.
Richard Lloyd, Which? executive director, said: "It seems extraordinary that the government's rules require companies to ignore whether you live in Cornwall or Scotland when working out how long it'll take to pay for the solar panels."
Mr Lloyd also explained that the speed of the payback for solar energy will depend on the amount of sun areas receive.
