Installing solar panels among flue accessories is now viewed as "the thing to do", an energy specialist has professed.

This is due to the public becoming increasingly aware of the future benefits of the technology, though their knowledge still must improve further in order for the country to reach a higher level of energy efficiency, an Eco Environments representative has outlined.

David Hunt, sales and marketing director at Eco Environments, said: "One of the benefits when we install a system is that we actually provide monitoring, so that people can see what they are generating."

Mr Hunt continued by saying that monitoring persuades people to begin conserving energy, leading to energy efficient behavioural changes.

A study by UC San Diego Jacobs School of Engineering professor Jan Kleissl in the upcoming issue of Solar Energy discovered that solar panels can cool buildings while providing clean power.
