South Kesteven District Council is hoping to install solar panels among the flue accessories of several properties.

Planning officers at the authority have applied for consent to put photovoltaic panels on Stamford Leisure Pool in Drift Road, Bourne Leisure Centre in Queens Road and Abbey Road's Born Corn Exchange, reports the Rutland and Stamford Mercury.

These applications have gone before the council's development control committee, although members have deferred the applications in order to complete a public consultation.

Officers have suggested that the visual impact of the proposals would be minimal, with people living near the Stamford swimming pool especially unlikely to be affected by pool glare.

Elsewhere, an article for H&V News has revealed that Clayemore School has been upgraded with a new heating system.

The fitting was completed by Total Energy Services in two stages, using five Firebird oil-fired boilers.
