Defective flue accessories caused a blazing chimney fire at a home in East Sussex yesterday (January 27th).
Four fire engines were required at the property in the county's Ripe area, where they combated the chimney blaze before trying to subdue a second blaze in the house's ground floor, according to SussexPress.co.uk.
Two house reel jets were also utilised to spread anti-fire foam across the flames, while breathing apparatus was used. The property's owners were absent at the time of the incident and no injuries were sustained.
Meanwhile, the Whitby Gazette has reported that fire crews in Whitby were called to attend two fires within minutes during last week.
The initial incident happened last Friday (January 21st) at around 10:00 GMT in the Sleights region, while the second occurred a short while later in St Peter's Road.
A ladder was used to put out the second blaze, which is believed to have started due to the homeowner burning inappropriate materials.
