Swanwick homeowners have initiated an action group as a means of opposing plans for a new crematorium and flue accessories in the village.
Mermoira Ltd is behind the plans, which could see a 3,000 sq ft building built on a 7.6-acre site between Sleetmoore Lane and the Wimsey Way Thornton's factory, according to the Ripley and Heanor News.
Local resident Steve Harvey told the news provider: "There are still an awful lot of Swanwick residents who are unaware of the proposal. I am working with a handful of other residents on a plan to prevent this development going ahead."
Mr Harvey went on to describe the village as a being under siege by developers.
His remarks come after North Lincolnshire Council warned residents in Scunthorpe, Ashby and Bottesford that they could be in danger of losing money if their heating appliances are not adequately managed.
Smog regulations are still in place in the areas, delivering a maximum fine of £1,000 for those who break them.
